I’m no expert but it seems you need a converter if you want to use this cable. Without one the cable is completely useless. Unfortunately the seller isn’t clear on this. Possibly so they can fleece a few quid out of the few people who aren’t computer nerd’s. It’s time the description was updated to reflect this. Or maybe they should simply be reported to trading standards for dishonest advertising.

I use this type of cable to send component video from high definition video sources into a Hitachi pma400e plasma’s unused 2 x pc inputs, as it has no hdmi and only 1 x component input. This gives me 3 x component inputs.
Firstly I spent considerably more than this on a Ixos hd15, so when I needed another I decided to try one of these.
It produces the same results as the Ixos, flawless 1080i hd video.
Note you will also need a mini rca to 2 x rca cable like 3.5mm Jack to 2 x RCA Phono Stereo Audio Cable 3m Leadfor audio.
Bear in mind this is merely a passive video only transmission cable, it does not ‘convert’ anything, so it is important you thoroughly understand what your equipment can or cannot input/output before purchasing.
For example (in my experience) Hitachi and Sharp flat panels generally accept component over vga, Panasonic and Samsung do not. Check your manual or menus to be sure.
It was a shame the other reviewer marked it down because he didn’t read the (quite detailed) product description which clearly stated ‘vga card necessary’.
Overall an excellent value cable with many different uses.

Cable has been used to link freesat box component outlets to VGA terminal of a video projector. It worked well for this purpose – but video projector was equipped to receive the component signal into its VGA terminal. It might not work with equipment not designed to receive a component signal in this way.

The info states that this cable connects your PC to your TV.What it doesn’t tell you is that you need an intermediate connector to change the output format for TV.

I’m not sure of the quality of the product but I assumed one size would fit all but this didn’t fit my Fujitsu Siemens laptop so check before you order.
